LG Trax CU575 more than a music phone

The newLG Trax CU575 has been announced by AT&T. LG Trax CU575 Its an upgrade to the CU500v and its slimmer with larger screens. A sleek multi-purpose clamshell - shaped device that offers blazing-fast 3G HSDPA data speeds and the convenience of stereo Bluetooth functionality. "The trax by LG is more than a music phone," said Carlton Hill, vice president of Product Management for AT&T's wireless unit.

The Trax's 3G data speeds through AT&T's UMTS/HSDPA network allows users to access AT&T's Cellular Video (CV) service and the Internet while they're on the go. CV features content from CNN, The Weather Channel, iFilm, Comedy Central and exclusive premium content from HBO and much more.

The trax by LG features AT&T Mobile Music, which gives users access to subscription music services such as Napster and eMusic, in addition to Music ID song-recognition software, music videos and The Buzz music news portal. The handset is MobiTV and XM Radio Mobile-capable, so users can enjoy streaming live TV and digital radio all in one device. The trax by LG also enables users to create and manage custom playlists.

The phone will also support AT&T's Video Share service, the first service in the U.S. that enables users to share live video over their wireless phones while on a voice call.

So to those who are interested in this mid-range cellphone will be pleased to note that there is a decent array of multimedia features ranging from external music controls and a color display, stereo Bluetooth connectivity, and a microSD memory card slot that lets you carry up to 4GB of additional songs around.

The camera is nothing much to shout about at 1.3 megapixels, but it is interesting to note that the Trax supports AT&T's Mobile Music service and is compatible with both MobiTV and XM Radio Mobile. You can pick up the LG Trax for $129.99 with a 2-year contract on August 14th (tomorrow) from AT&T stores after a mail-in rebate.

The LG Trax available in select AT&T retail stores and online beginning Aug. 14, initially for $129.99 after a mail-in-rebate and a two-year service agreement.
